Coffee With | The Smith Family

Jordan & Stephanie are the husband and wife duo that make up the creative business that is, The Smith Family. [SMTH FMLY]  They do amazing films and photographs, and they also just so happen to be our wedding videographers! When Tyler & I watched our wedding video for the first time we were in complete amazement. These two were able to capture every important moment with us never even realizing it. They best thing about having them join us on our wedding day is that they felt like just another member of the family. My 6 year old nephew even stole Stephanie away a couple times to join him in the photo booth. We absolutely adore these two, I invite you to start your adoration for them as well….

What inspires your work the most: Stephanie: I am inspired through people’s stories. I feel that everyone has a unique story to tell and photography has allowed me to tell their story in visual form. Jordan: The longevity of work is important to me. I really want to create work that can permanently capture moments in time in a way that isn’t cheap or unnecessarily obvious.

 Favorite coffee spot: Stephanie: My favorite coffee spot in Denton is Jupiter House. I love the small town feel and that I am bound to run into someone I know. Jordan: There is a Vivace Expresso Bar in Seattle that I’ve only been to twice. The first time was on a road trip with my old roommates. All of us were baristas here in Denton at the time. They have some of the best lattes in the world. They also had a drink there called the “Beautiful Stephanie”. It turned out to be an earl grey tea latte, which is Stephanie’s favorite drink. Steph and I got to back to Seattle to shoot a wedding and of course we went back so she could get the drink. So the place not only has the best coffee, it brings back some good memories as well.

 Had your first cup of Jo at the age of: Stephanie: Not sure, but I remember taking a sips of my moms coffee growing up and hating it. To be honest, I am more of tea drinker. If I have coffee it has to have loads of sugar and creamer. Jordan: I was a teenager. This man at church heated up some coffee for me in a styrofoam cup. It was terrible! I didn’t drink coffee again until after I started working at a coffee shop in college.

And because I haven’t shared our wedding video on the blog yet, I thought what better day than today when the creators themselves are being featured! The best day ever…
